Norm began his stand-up career, more than 15 years ago, performing in comedy clubs throughout Canada. His first big break came from Dennis Miller, who hired Norm as a writer for his ill-fated, late-night talk show. After that, Norm became a writer on "Roseanne." In 1993, he joined "Saturday Night Live" as a featured player and writer. The following season, he became "Weekend Update" anchor and manned the desk until December 1997. Though, he belittles his effectiveness as a sketch comedian, his memorable impressions included Bob Dole, Larry King, Charles Kurault, David Letterman, and Quentin Tarantino. His final appearance on "SNL" was March 14, 1998 as Burt Reynolds.
Norm and his x-wife Connie have a young son named Dylan. A middle child of three boys; Norm's brothers, Neil and Leslie, are both newscasters for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, one of them stationed in Israel.
